Kauai's Makai Golf Club: Back in business and better than ever
Makai Golf Club at the St. Regis Princeville Resort on Kauai's North Shore has reopened for play after a multi-million dollar renovation. Robert Trent Jones Jr., who originally designed Makai, also oversaw the renovation. On Wednesday, Dec. 16 WestJet Airlines began twice-weekly flights to Lihue Airport on Kauai (LIH) from Vancouver including introductory fares starting at $349. WestJet also has a dozen flights weekly from Vancouver to Honolulu. Inter-island flights on multiple airlines make the hop to Kauai easy and inexpensive.

In the fall of 2008, Makai Golf Club initiated a multi-million-dollar renovation project overseen by Robert Trent Jones II, who designed the original Makai layout. The golf course construction phase has been completed, and the project is now in the grow-in phase. Makai G.C. is currently closed, with reopening planned for January 2010.
