The course is over manicured-literally. Acres of mowed rough. Play it while you can- while the standards are impeccable! Double Range is a work of art- Greens were pristine during Apr. 2018- A few notes worth mentioning- course will play probably between 7700-and 8100- from the tips- leave your ego at the clubhouse! Torrey South from the tips plays roughly 7500 max. on it's worse day of wind and humidity! The last time I played South was a few months after The Buick Open- Torrey was a substantial test from the tips. KuKui is a nightmare in comparison. Keep score if you must- but beware, even if you have your best game, add 8-10 strokes for the wind and probable rain- 8-10 is a generous compliment- probably add 15-20 if you are a 7,8,9 handicap! I teach and this is by far and away the most difficult test of golf I could ever imagine! The wind was a constant 25 mph gusting to 40+ with sideways sheets of rain- delaying play on several holes! Luckily 12,13,14, saved my sanity! If you think you play golf, well.....take it easy, the mf is a BEAR! DO NOT ask what's the course record and where's the first tee- I walked Rory's Hoyle Lake- however beautiful, it is a complete and utter joke compared to this Weiskopf monster. The final hole will play a solid driver, 3-5 wood and 8i/PW. Scorecard tops it at 504 yds. Check your ego at the door- have a Pacifico or Stoli after your round- you've earned it!
