Big Island's Hapuna Golf Course soars above Mauna Kea's shadows
Hapuna Golf Course, an Arnold Palmer-Ed Seay desig, is the perfect complement to Mauna Kea Golf Course, Mauna Kea Resort's more ballyhooed layout on the other side of Queen Kaahumanu Highway on the Big Island. Opened in 1992, Hapuna has become a favorite on its own as of late. The views are arguably as good at Mauna Kea and it's a little more player friendly.

The ocean makes Kauai Lagoons Golf Club's new Kiele Moana Course a must-see
Kauai Lagoons Golf Club is the only Jack Nicklaus-designed course on Kauai and home of the longest stretch of continuous oceanfront holes in Hawaii. The club, part of the Kauai Lagoons Marriott Resort in Lihue, recently reopened the Kiele Moana nine, one of the Hawaiian Islands' most spectacular spots for golf. Royal Ka'anapali golf course on Maui
Royal Ka'anapali opened in 1962, the first developments on 1,200-acre Ka'anapali in Lahaina. It was a recent host to "Big Break Ka'anapali" on the Golf Channel as well as the LPGA Kemper Cup and other televised events. The Robert Trent Jones Sr. design is something to see. Old Blue course at Wailea Golf Club on Maui
The Old Blue course at Wailea Golf Club is the first of three courses at the club, located just off the coast of south Maui. Old Blue originally opened in 1972, long before the luxury resort and residential developments that came to the area in the 1990s. Designed by Arthur Jack Snyder, the course has three sets of tees, playing to a maximum distance of 6,765 yards. Old Blue opens with a dogleg-right par 4 from an elevated tee towards the mountains of west Maui, and there are several magnificent vantage points similar to this throughout the course.
