Pound-for-pound, Kauai's golf scene is as good as any in Hawaii, boasting less than 10 total golf courses but for what it does have, it does very well. Less populous than Maui and Oahu, Kauai has a slow vibe with no real large towns and lots of scenery.

Located on the Ewa Plain of Oahu, Arnold Palmer and partner Ed Seay took what was once just waving fields of sugar cane and turned it into the challenging 27-hole Hawaii Prince Golf Club. As an amenity of the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki, the golf course offers resort guests a challenging, but very playable layout. There is water on the majority of holes, plenty of mounding to create all sorts of lies, and scores of bunkers to help frame holes and catch wayward shots.

The current home of the LPGA's SBS Open and former site of a Champions Tour event, the Arnold Palmer Course at Turtle Bay Resort has a solid playing history. Atypical of many courses in Hawaii, this layout boasts a nice mix of links golf and tree-lined fairways. It is known for its heavily bunkered par-4 17th hole, which provides the only good view of the Pacific Ocean, but there are many other solid holes as well.

Waikoloa Resort's Beach Course gets its name from the ocean view on the par-5 seventh hole, which backs up against the Pacific Ocean, but there are plenty of other scenic holes as well. Much of the course plays around inland lagoons and lava fields.
