Maui's Ka'anapali Resort is built upon 1,200 acres of land home to ancient Hawaiian royalty and is home to two 18-hole championship golf courses. The Royal Ka'anapali course was built in 1962 and designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., who created undulating greens and wide fairways to accent views of the Pacific Ocean and West Maui Mountains. This championship challenge has played host to such events as the Champions TOUR Ka'anapali Classic for 14 years, LPGA Kemper Cup and Shell's Wonderful World of Golf, and such legends as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Jan Stephanson and Betsy King have competed here. Guests of the Ka'anapali Resort receive discounts on green fees at both Royal Ka'anapali and newer Ka'anapali Kai, which was extensively renovated in 2005.

Both courses have been in good shape every year we have been back since 2002. Although I am an avid golfer it is very hard to concentrate on golf whenever you are walking down the fairways and looking over to Lanai or looking at the whales and the beaches. The views are the make the golf course so enjoyable.

Played the north course om 2/2/2013 and the condition is excellent but the course has people walking around and through it ALL the time. Very disturbing. They come from the many, many condos and houses lining the course. You also cross several roads to get to different tee boxes. I would not play it again.

Just played the course in December. Although it doesn't look like much driving by in the car, playing the course was very enjoyable. Nice, wide fairways pristine greens and awesome views made the round very enjoyable. Staff was awesome and my wife found the course very female-friendly. Highly recommend - a must play when you are visiting Maui!

The Royal course is my favorite course on Maui and I've played them all. This is a bold statement I know. When I reflect on all aspects of the experience, Ka'anapali has it covered. Quality golf, outstanding customer service and a feeling of "I'm in a great place" make it so. The experience starts out great with the warm greeting at the bag drop. The guys remembered us from our annual visits. Every staff person is obviously committed to excellent customer service and make you feel the Aloha Spirit. What a great place to spend the golfing part of our vacation! It's beginning to feel like our home course back on the mainland, except with Palm Trees and Ocean views! The Pro Shop is the best on Maui.
During our recent trip, we decided to spend all our our golfing days at Ka'anapli. We were not disappointed. We are looking forward to another trip soon. Mahalo Ka'anapali!

Longer of the two courses, but very enjoyable, especially after you play it a couple of times. I love that it runs next to the ocean, but that is such a distraction! Amazing design & history make this course challenging & fun to play.

I recommend Ka'anapali to all my friends. The staff is super friendly & the facilities are great. Very good variety in the pro shop & can always find something to bring home as a reminder of the fun I had.

Nice Course!! The course plays a lot nicer then it looks from the street. Challenging, but offers an average player opportunities to score. I loved the views and this course has plenty of hazards to test your game. Played March 6th 2010

This course is sneaky long and alot of fun to play for your avg to good golfer. Doesnt look like much from the road. When you get out there it is a well put together test of golf and the view and set up are beautiful and more then comfortable. When the wind is blowing this course can close to the toughest bear.

Played both courses this week, BEST GREENS in the STATE! by far. Played other resorts, no comparison. Deceivingly more difficult that it appears, probably 5-7 strokes harder. Great experience, fun, friendly and multiple tees to accommodate my wife and son. Friendly staff. Ate lunch at Tia Juana's Beach Cantina, best tacos, listened to Donovan Frankenreiter. Kaanapali is a great resort, it's not a wonder why it's so busy here.

Ka'anapali Royal is a gorgeous golf course! It's challenging but fair. Women have a bit of an advantage from the red tees :-)

We played at Kaanapali this summer with my two boys and loved it. Tough course but pristine conditions. Was great to be able to say we played where Arnold Palmer and Nicklaus have played!
